Thank you for your interest in supporting the UC College of Law’s Summer Public Interest Funding (SPIF) program!
The SPIF program at UC Law provides stipends for students working summer jobs in public interest law, positions that are unpaid. By offering this support, SPIF helps ensure that meaningful public interest opportunities remain accessible to the many UC Law students who wish to pursue careers in this important area of practice. The program awards Federal Work Study funding which must be supplemented, —and is— through private donations to the College of Law’s Public Interest / Law Fellowship Fund.
SPIF offers students a vital pathway to gain hands-on experience and deepen their expertise in public interest and government law, while also reducing financial barriers for those passionate about serving the public good. Typical host organizations include public defender and prosecutor offices, public interest legal organizations, and judicial internships.
