SHP Josh Gentry Memorial Scholarship Fund
In the summer of 2010 SHP hired a young Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Cincinnati who from day one showed immediate promise coupled with a charismatic personality. Josh Gentry worked tirelessly on countless projects at SHP, always completing the work to the highest standards, on time and with a smile on his face.
Josh was a devoted son, fiancé, brother and friend with an enthusiastic and spirited personality. Dedicated to his passion of engineering, he had already achieved the certification of Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, a Certified Commissioning Authority from the AABC Commissioning Group, an ASHRAE member and LEED Green Associate. He was also an Eagle Scout, avid gamer, lover of technology and was involved with rescuing Newfoundland dogs.
When Josh passed away suddenly in 2014, SHP established a scholarship at UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science as a way of honoring Josh and continuing his legacy. The scholarship is funded by proceeds from the annual Play4Josh Memorial Golf Tournament and through individual contributions.
