Sid Khosla, MD Fund for Voice Sciences

Dr. KhoslaDr. Siddarth “Sid” Khosla was a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati, an internationally recognized surgeon scientist in the field of laryngology.  He provided expert and compassionate care for patients with voice and airway problems throughout the greater Cincinnati region and beyond for nearly 20 years. In addition to his thoughtful patient care, he was a leader in innovative, collaborative research and education both as a professor in the Department of Otolaryngology and as affiliated faculty member of the Osher Center for Integrative Health at the University of Cincinnati.

As the first fellowship-trained laryngologist in the region, Dr. Khosla served as Director of the UC Health Voice and Swallowing Center, where his team specialized in providing advanced methods to view the larynx, evaluate vocal conditions, and examine and evaluate voice conditions. Sid’s contributions to medicine and the Cincinnati community have been extraordinary. His expertise and that of his team, has fostered relationships with the local and national voice and singing community, elevating the UC Health Performance and Professional Voice Center to the premier center in the region treating patients from the Cincinnati Opera, College of Conservatory Music at UC, the Cincinnati Symphony, and traveling vocal artists performing in the Cincinnati area.  He was a strong supporter of the performing arts in Cincinnati and served on the board of the Cincinnati Opera Company.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Khosla was a leader in the research field pioneering new techniques to treat voice and swallowing disorders and was the Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Khosla came to UC with a career development award from the National Institutes of Health and became the most extensively funded surgeon scientist in the history of the Department of Otolaryngology.  As one of only six laryngologists in the world to receive an R01 NIH award, Dr. Khosla was uniquely qualified to integrate cutting edge research findings into clinical care.  During his career he received six of these prestigious R01 NIH grants and more than $12 million in research funding which he used to significantly advance the field of laryngology. 

Memorial Contributions will be used to establish the Sid Khosla, MD Fund for Voice Sciences to help continue his legacy of scientific advancement within the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati.
