College of Allied Health Sciences Annual Fund
Unrestricted funds that are used to support faculty, students, and programs where the need is greatest.

College of Allied Health Sciences Dean's Endowed Diversity Scholarship*
Established by Timothy B. and Terri A. Hollenkamp, a SLP alumna and owner of REHAB on the Run and Rehab Resources, as well as Scott and Tina Whalen with matching funds from UC Health.  Recipient(s) must be enrolled in the College of Allied Health Sciences.  Recipient(s) must have a diverse background, based upon factors including, but not limited to, socio-economic status (family income, wealth, etc.), parental education, cultural awareness, and history of overcoming adversity.  Recipient(s) must have and maintain at least a 3.2 GPA.  Preference shall be given to a first-generation student.

CAHS Nutrition for Better Health Scholarship*
Established in 2012 by an anonymous donor.  Four-fifths (80%) of the annual gifts shall be used for scholarships to be applied as follows:  1) full tuition for student enrolled in the MS/MD program in the Department of Nutrition, and 2) the rest for students, graduates or undergraduates from across all the disciplines offered at the College, who have completed, or will take before graduation, a course in nutrition at the College.  The remaining (20%) will be directed to the Dean's Discretionary Fund.

Supports education of advanced medical imaging technologists and medical laboratory scientists

Dr. Colin R. and Margaret E. Macpherson Scholarship Endowment*
Established in 2012 by the Macpherson Family.  Provides scholarship assistance to qualified students majoring in Medical Laboratory Science currently attending the University of Cincinnati. Recipient(s) must have with a GPA of 2.8 or higher.  Among the qualities to be considered are evidence of strong communication and leadership skills and evidence of community service. Preference will be given to students who are juniors or seniors.

Health Information Management Scholarship**
Established in in 2005 by Gail I. Smith, retired CHIS faculty member.  Provides funds to be used for scholarships for students in  the Health Information Management Program.  Available funds dependent on annual contributions. 

Communication Sciences & Disorders Scholarships

Communication Sciences and Disorders Fund
Supports education of speech-language pathologists, audiologists and speech, language, hearing scientists.

Otter Animal Audiology Endowment Fund
Supports the education for and testing of canine hearing through the Laboratory for Animal Biocoustics (the FETCH Lab), named in honor of Otter the dog, recipient of the first canine hearing aid.

Bahmann Foundation Scholarship**
Established in 1997 by The Bahmann Foundation honoring the legacy of Laura Belle and Emma Leah Bahmann to alleviate the effects of hearing loss to help others in the future.  Provides support for Doctor of Audiology students in their 1st and 2nd years.

Christina Ferrier Memorial Endowed Scholarship*
Established February 2016 by Ronald and Rose Ferrier in honor of their daughter, Christina, who died suddenly in November 2015 while a graduate student in Speech Language Pathology.  Provides scholarship(s) shall be awarded to graduate students enrolled in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders program in Speech Language Pathology with preference given to students enrolled in the Distance Learning Program.  Preference will be given to students who are actively engaged in meaningful volunteer activity within their community, exhibit a strong work ethic, and are committed to excellence in the pursuit of their career in speech-language pathology.  In the event that the Speech Language Pathology degree ceases to exist, the scholarship(s) shall be awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the closest possible degree program within the department or College.

Ernest Weiler Memorial Scholarship Fund**
Established in June 2008 by various donors in honor of Dr. Earnest Weiler, a Professor Emeritus, upon his death. Provides tuition assistance awards to students in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Fluency Friday Endowment Fund
Established in February 2019.  Supports the Fluency Friday program at the College of Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) and the Hamilton County Educational Service Center.  Fluency Friday is an annual event for children who stutter and their families that was started by Diane Games, MA-BCS-F in 2001.

Judith Marlowe PhD Endowed Diversity Scholarship in Early Hearing Detection & Intervention *
Established in 2017 by Dr. Judith Marlowe, who received her MA in CSD from UC and has spent her career focusing on pediatric audiology, with matching funds from UC Health.  Provides recipient(s) enrolled in the AuD or Audiology PhD programs in the College with an expressed intention to provide clinical services in pediatric audiology with a focus on early hearing identification and intervention (birth to three years).  Recipient(s) must have a diverse background, based upon factors including, but not limited to, socio-economic status (family income, wealth, etc.), parental education, cultural awareness, and history of overcoming diversity.  Preference will be given to students who will be applying for a post-doc fellowship in the field.  If there are no eligible candidates in the AuD or Audiology PhD programs, disbursement may be deferred for one year.  Alternately, in the absence of eligible Audiology candidates, students in the Speech Pathology MA or PhD programs who have the same expressed intention to provide early interventions services (birth to age 3) specifically for children with hearing impairment may be considered. All applicants for this scholarship will submit an essay describing their interest and objectives in becoming a pediatric audiologist and their professional development plan.

Katie Haumesser Endowed Scholarship Fund**
Established in 2008 by Katie’s family and friends in her memory after a tragic car accident.  Katie was an alumna who earned a BS & MS in SLP.  She was a single mom who exemplified determination and resilience in her pursuit of an education.  This award continues her spirit in support of others.  Provides tuition assistance to students in the College of Allied Health Sciences’ Dept. of Communication Sciences and Disorders. It is the donor’s preference that the scholarship be awarded each year to a single parent. If there are no single parent candidates then the dept. may choose a worthy candidate.  Provides tuition assistance to students in the College of Allied Health Sciences’ Dept. of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Kenneth Donnelly Endowment Fund*
Established January 2005 by Carole A. Donnelly, Ph.D. in honor of her deceased husband Dr. Kenneth Donnelly, a longtime faculty member in the CSD department.  Income supports the audiology clinics and clinical education of graduate students in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the college.

Robert W. Keith Audiology Research Endowment Fund*
Established in 2011 by Dr. Robert Keith and Kathleen Thornton-Keith to support audiology graduate students.  Dr. Keith spent much of his career teaching future generations of audiologists.  Their commitment to supporting students in pursuit of their educational aspirations continues today.  Supports student research that shows promise resulting in presentation (poster, platform or other forum) or publication in the peer reviewed scientific literature. Funding may include support for such things as purchase of supplies necessary for student research, payment of research subjects, travel for presentations of data to scientific meetings, attendance at training seminars or other forums to learn techniques required for conducting research, and other related purposes as deemed appropriate. Also may be used for either capstone or dissertation research, or independent study that shows promise. If funds are sufficient, it may be used to support an audiology research assistantship.

Sheri An Bloom Speech and Hearing Award**
Established in 1990 by the Bloom Family in memory of Sheri An Bloom, a senior in SLP who was tragically killed in an automobile accident with her father.  Her pursuit to further her education was to continue to graduate school following graduation.  This award creates a legacy to support others in that dream.  Provides an annual award to a student with junior standing who is majoring in the Speech and Learning program. The student should have GPA of at least 3.0, be involved in a variety of campus activities and have intentions of pursuing a graduate education in the Speech and Learning field.  Available funds dependent on annual contributions.

The Communication Sciences Disorders Leadership Scholarship Fund*
Established in 2018 by the Kelchner family to find and support future leaders in CSD with matching funds from UC Health.  This fund reflects their value of strong, principled leadership regardless of the organization.
Dr. Kelchner has served as a CSD faculty member as well as Interim Department Chair.  Provides recipient(s) enrolled in a Communication Sciences Disorders (CSD) program focusing on Clinical Speech-Language Pathology (e.g. medical or educational focus) within the College.  Recipient(s) must have a diverse background, based upon factors, including, but not limited to, socio-economic status (family income, wealth, etc.), parental education, cultural awareness, and history of overcoming adversity.  As part of the application process, applicants shall provide a short description of their unique background contributed to that vision.  If there are no eligible candidates in the programs, disbursement may be deferred for one year.

Funding and donations will be used for student scholarships, support of pilot research projects by faculty and students, and support in teaching.

Funds used to support the Athletic Training program.

Amanda Blackmon Heitkamp Scholarship**
Established in 2013 by an anonymous donor and supported by family and friends in memory of Amanda Heitkamp.  Provides tuition assistance for a second year DPT student who is a graduate UC Health Sciences Program (HLSC) in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the CAH Preference will be given to HLSC/DPT students who exhibit characteristics that Amanda Heitkamp exemplified (ie: dedication to the profession, caring, perseverance, compassion for others).  Available funds dependent on annual contributions.

Beth A. Bextermueller Rehabilitation Sciences Endowment Scholarship*
Established in 2015 by Harold M. Thomas in honor of Beth Bextermueller, retired clinical coordinator.  Provides assistance for scholarships, stipend, and/or clinical experience support (including travel for professional or clinical experience) for Rehabilitation Science students, candidates of the Doctoral Physical Therapy program, and/or Health Sciences students in the College AHS.

Bill and Carol Walker Athletic Training Student Development and Scholarship Endowment Fund*
Established in 2018 by Carol Walker to honor her husband, Bill, UC’s Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer from 1975 to 2007. Provides financial support for the professional development and scholarship support of students enrolled in the University of Cincinnati Master of Science Athletic Training Program presently located in the College. Eligible students applying must be students in good standing in the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program, have a GPA of at least 3.5 and through their involvement in projects, beyond required class work and internship, show their commitment to career development and to the principles of the Athletic Training profession. Preference shall be given to final year students. The first award will be given in support of the inaugural Master of Science in Athletic Training class which begins in Fall 2021.

Excellence in Rehabilitation Sciences*
Established July 2017 by Cathy A. Guenthner, owner of Guenthner Physical Therapy.  Provides tuition assistance for a student(s) enrolled or accepted into the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program.  Recipient(s) must have a diverse background, based upon factors including, but not limited to, socio-economic status (family income, wealth, etc.), parental education, cultural awareness, and history of overcoming adversity.  If there are no eligible students, the scholarship would be open to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Health Services Program.

Eugenia S. Thomas Doctor of Physical Therapy Scholarship*
Established February 2018 by Harold M. Thomas and Eugenia S. Thomas.  Annual spendable funds are to be divided in 5 equal scholarships.  Students must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.5 and have been accepted as a first year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) student.  Scholarship shall be renewable for up to 3 consecutive years provided fund availability and student eligibility.

James K. and Pat Ellis Student Athletic Trainer Scholarship*
Established March 1987 by Dr. James Ellis and Mrs. Pat Ellis to provide scholarship support to students in the Athletic Training Program in the College of Allied Health Sciences.

Nutritional Sciences Diversity Scholarship*
Established in 2016 by an anonymous donor and the Gerber Foundation with matching funds from UC Health.  Provides tuition assistance for recipient(s) enrolled in any program in the Nutritional Sciences Department of the College.  Recipient(s) must have a diverse background, based upon factors, including, but not limited to, socio-economic status (family income, wealth, etc.), parental education, cultural awareness, and history of overcoming diversity.  Recipient(s) must have and maintain at least a 3.2 GPA.

Nutritional Sciences Department Scholarship**
Established in 2009 by Grace Falciglia, Doris Cambruzzi, Jane Garvin and Ellen Rember as leaders in the field of nutritional science.  Available funds provide assistance for tuition assistance for Nutritional Science students through 2 awards. 
(1) Nutritional Sciences Outstanding Student Scholarship: Recognizes one exemplary undergraduate student for their (a) academic achievement, (b) critical thinking skills, (c) initiative and motivation, (d) professionalism, and (e) potential for leadership/success in the field of food and nutrition.  Awarded to four undergraduate nutrition students entering their senior year. 
(2) Nutritional Sciences Outstanding Student Scholarship: Recognizes one exemplary undergraduate student for their (a) academic achievement, (b) critical thinking skills, (c) initiative and motivation, (d) professionalism, and (e) potential for leadership/success in the field of food and nutrition.  Awarded to four undergraduate nutrition students entering their senior year. 
Academic achievement: Undergraduate student cumulative GPA ≥3.5 and no grade lower than a C in any course.  Excellence in Written communication skills, critical thinking skills (analytical skills/problem solving; conceptual skills), initiative and motivation, professionalism, potential for leadership/success in the field of food and nutrition.  Available funds dependent on annual contributions.

Rehabilitation Sciences Scholarship**
Established in November 2008 by Scott D. and Tina F. Whalen and supported by many alumni.  Provides tuition assistance for a student(s) enrolled in the rehabilitation sciences.  Available funds dependent on annual contributions.

Rose Smith Health Sciences Scholarship*
Established February 2018 by Rose L. Smith, DPT and Donald R. Smith who spent their careers in higher education and social services.  Provides tuition assistance awards to students enrolled as incoming third-year students in the Health Sciences undergraduate program. The fund will support students who have a diverse background, based upon factors, including, but not limited to, socio-economic status (family income, wealth, etc.), parental education, cultural awareness, and history of overcoming adversity.  Recipients must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher upon the time of application.  Preference shall be given to current student-athletes in the program.  The award is renewable up to 2 consecutive years provided fund availability and student eligibility.

Rose Smith Doctorate of Physical Therapy Scholarship*
Established February 2018 by Rose L. Smith, DPT and Donald R. Smith who spent their careers in higher education and social services.  Provides tuition assistance to student(s) entering year 2 of their Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program.  Recipient(s) must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher upon time of application.  Preference given to Athletic Trainers pursuing a DPT.  If all things are equal, demonstrated financial need can be considered.  Scholarship is renewable up to 2 consecutive years provided fund availability and student eligibility.

W. Kenneth Stephens Scholarship Fund*
Established in 2009 by Patricia M. Graman and other donors in honor of “Doc” Stephens. Provides tuition assistance to be awarded to sophomores, juniors and/or seniors in the Athletic Training Program which is now based in CAHS. Eligible students must have a 2.75 program GPA and must complete an application including essay.  Available 2020-21.

Provides emergency funding for students.

Dr. Jeannette C. Taylor Diversity Scholarship*
Established in 2016 by an anonymous donor in honor of Dr. Jeannette C. Taylor.  Provides tuition assistance for students enrolled in the Masters of Social Work program in the School of Social work.  Recipient(s) must have a diverse background, based on factors, including, but not limited to, socio-economic status (family income, wealth, etc.), parental education, cultural awareness, and history of overcoming adversity.   Available 2019-20.

James Gruber Endowed Fund for Aging Education*
Established February 2017 by James E. Gruber. To be used for educational and programmatic support within the College's School of Social Work with the following stipulations: Funds shall be used for program purposes relating to aging education; which can include, but not limited to: an annual one-day round table seminar on aging, an annual lectureship on aging, an ongoing educational series on again, and/or support of a degree program for aging.

Jean Sepate & Peter E. Djuric Scholarship*
Established in 2012 by Jean Sepate and Peter E. Djuric, Pharm.D.  Provides tuition assistance awards to students enrolled in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program. The Fund will support students with a 3.0 grade point average and the desire to continue to serve as a role model in areas where the need for mentorship is greatest. Preference will be given to male African-American students enrolled in the MSW program. If there are no qualified candidates, then preference will go towards other minority students. Recipients may use the scholarship for such things as tuition, books, fees, room and/or board, and relevant costs related to the progression towards the MSW degree.

Miriam and Henry Glanzberg Scholarship*
Established to provide scholarship support to help prepare capable students in the School of Social Work for service in careers where they are so badly needed to treat desperate social needs in today’s society.  Graduate student: GPA of 3.0; undergrad GPA of 2.75.

Joe Hall Scholarship**
Established by the Children's Home of Greater Cincinnati to a student in field placement at that agency. Provides for scholarships to full-time, preferably minority students admitted to the graduate school of Social Work at CAHS.  The scholarship generally goes to a first-year student and is renewable for the second year.

Gifts to the A&S Scholarship Fund provide 4-year, renewable scholarships to incoming freshman, helping us recruit bright and committed students. More than 6,000 undergraduates need some help covering the cost of tuition.

Dean's Venture Fund

The Dean's Venture Fund provides the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences with the flexibility to invest strategically in interdisciplinary collaboration, research innovation, curriculum development or other priorities for academic growth in the college.

A&S Annual Fund

This versatile fund gives the dean flexibility to address needs or opportunities that are not anticipated in the annual budget; for example, the need to replace a piece of scientific instrumentation or the ability to cover travel costs for a faculty member to present at an international conference.

The University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) is located on UC's main campus. DAAP is consistently rated as one of the most prestigious design schools in the United States and world. Annual Fund

DAAP receives annual support from alumni, faculty and friends through gifts to the DAAP Annual Fund. This consistent, ongoing source of funding is essential to the operation and growth of the college.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

DAAP puts extraordinary efforts into recruiting and retaining the best students. Though DAAP is currently ranked at the top of its field, it must stay competitive by offering scholarships to top candidates. Democratization of Simulation

Simulation software has changed how engineers work in every discipline. The use of simulation software has been limited primarily to engineers with graduate degrees. We seek to broaden its usage. Undergraduates who are proficient in simulation software will have skills which future employers desire.

Neil Armstrong Initiative

To honor the legacy of Neil Armstrong, the first human to walk on the moon and an aerospace professor at UC, the University has established the Neil Armstrong Initiative. Crossing many disciplines and units, the initiative will feature scholarships and fellowships for talented aerospace engineering undergraduate and graduate students, a Space to Earth Research Center and a 21st Century Information Research Center.
