CINCINNATI – Dec. 5, 2017 – The University of Cincinnati Foundation’s #GivingTuesday campaign was the most successful to date. Over 2,000 donors contributed to the University of Cincinnati and UC Health through gifts and pledges totaling more than $116,000 to nearly 300 different funds.
“All of us at the UC Foundation are excited to see so many people come together on behalf of the UC and UC Health community,” said UC Foundation President Peter E. Landgren. “We learned more about why people chose to give, and heard from others about how their lives were changed because of a gift. Our team has been energized by sharing stories of how philanthropy makes a difference in Cincinnati, and we’re proud to be part of this worldwide effort.”
On #GivingTuesday, Bearcats could give to six highlighted funds or to any of the great causes at UC and UC Health. Approximate numbers for the six funds are below:
- Athletics Women’s Excellence Fund - 115 gifts totaling $4,000
- Bearcats Pantry - 190 gifts totaling $4,500
- First-Generation Scholarships – 145 gifts totaling $5,000
- Ohio Innocence Project - 95 gifts totaling $3,500
- UC Cancer Institute - 275 gifts totaling $10,500
- UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute - 40 gifts totaling $1,000
Thanks to #GivingTuesday, the Bearcats Pantry has doubled it funds and its donors grew from six to 190.
Much of #GivingTuesday’s success is due to over 50 volunteer ambassadors who spread the message on their personal social media platforms. The impact of combined philanthropy is truly significant. Thank you to all who participated!
