About the Ethics Center

The Cincinnati Ethics Center works throughout Greater Cincinnati to foster the reasoning, dialogue and decision-making skills that are essential for resolving the ethical, political, and social challenges we face as a community. We bring people together and give them the tools they need to have effective conversations about those challenges.

The center supports UC’s Next Lives Here mission by facilitating inclusive conversations and conducting scholarship that promotes ethics as a foundational principle.

Central to our mission is our commitment to K-12 education, highlighted by the Greater Cincinnati Regional High School Ethics Bowl and the Ethics and Dragons programs at Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Libraries. These initiatives, along with teacher professional development, help students develop critical moral reasoning skills to navigate ethical dilemmas.

Through collaboration with individuals, non-profits, educational institutions and businesses, the Ethics Center aims to promote an inclusive, just and equitable community. Our goals include enhancing ethical awareness, encouraging civil discourse, and fostering integrity in decision-making to support healthier communities both at UC and beyond.

We believe that moral inquiry—about right and wrong, justice and injustice, character and integrity—should not be confined to the classroom.
