About the Ethics Center

Trust forms the basis of a thriving community. Because we inherently trust people we believe to be ethical, the University of Cincinnati is embarking on the creation of a nascent Ethics Center to be a trusted resource for ethical expertise and leadership in the Greater Cincinnati community. This Center, which further supports UC’s Next Lives Here initiatives, will be known for providing tools, facilitating inclusive conversations, and conducting scholarship that promotes ethics as a foundational principle. Through collaboration with individuals, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and business partners, the Ethics Center will promote an inclusive, just, equitable, and livable community.

The purpose of the Center is to enhance awareness, promote civil discourse and justice, and provide tools that facilitate integrity and support ethical decision-making to create healthier communities through partnerships at UC and within the surrounding community. Our mission is to bring together community members, students, staff, and scholars to foster dialogue, solve problems, and advance knowledge. We believe that moral inquiry--about right and wrong, justice and injustice, character and integrity—should not be confined to the classroom.
